Our chief aim is to substantially increase the number of minority students earning B.S. degrees, and subsequently pursuing M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines.

Louis Stokes was the first African-American member of Congress from the State of Ohio and the first African American to retire from the House of Representatives.

Stokes also served on the House Select Committee on Assassinations, which investigated the deaths of President John F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
